How to delete your YJP Convention account, and exactly what is removed and kept.
Last updated: September 23, 2026
This page explains how to delete the account you use with the YJP Convention app and the yjpconvention.org website, and what happens to your information when you do.
1. Delete your account from inside the app
This is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately. You do not need to contact anyone.
- ·Open the YJP Convention app and make sure you are signed in.
- ·Go to the More tab, then tap Your Account.
- ·Tap Delete Account.
- ·Type DELETE to confirm, then confirm again when prompted.
2. If you have already uninstalled the app
You do not need to reinstall it. Email hello@yjpconvention.org from the address you registered with, asking us to delete your YJP Convention account. We will confirm your identity, carry out the same deletion described below, and reply when it is done — normally within 30 days of your request.
3. What is deleted
Deleting your account removes your sign-in and everything whose only purpose was to be your account:
- ·Your sign-in itself, so the account can no longer be used.
- ·Your profile — name, email address, phone number and every other detail you added.
- ·Your personal registration details — date of birth, emergency contact, dietary needs and food allergies, T-shirt size, profession, city, roommate preferences, session interests and any notes you wrote.
- ·Your waitlist entry, seat reservation and check-in verification record.
- ·Your YJP Premier League membership, and your answers in live rounds such as Trivia.
- ·Your roommate directory listing, and your membership of any room.
4. What is kept, and why
A small amount of information survives deletion because it is no longer only about you, or because we are required to keep it. None of it identifies you by name once your account is gone.
- ·If you registered and paid: the financial record of that seat — badge number, ticket tier, price, amount paid and the payment reference — is kept for accounting and tax purposes. Your personal details are cleared from it, and it is retained for as long as our legal, accounting and reporting obligations require. Deleting your account does not cancel your registration or issue a refund; contact us if you want a refund.
- ·Applications you filed into a live event — Shark Tank, Talent Show or a volunteer application — are kept so the committee can finish reviewing them, with your account detached from them.
- ·Work you submitted for your League team, including photos and videos, is kept as part of your team’s scored entry, because removing it would take points from your teammates rather than from you.
- ·Messages you sent to other attendees stay visible to the people you sent them to — an email you have already sent does not un-send itself — but your name is removed from them, and they show as coming from a deleted account.
- ·Ordinary server logs and backups may retain records for a short period before they age out.
5. How long it takes
Deletion from inside the app happens immediately. Requests sent by email are completed within 30 days. If you had a paid registration, the committee is notified that the seat needs a decision, but no refund is issued automatically.
6. Who this applies to
The YJP Convention app for Android and iOS, and the yjpconvention.org website, are published by Young Jain Professionals, a committee of the Federation of Jain Associations in North America (JAINA). This page covers the single account you use across all of them. How we handle your information more generally is described in our Privacy Policy.
