How old do I have to be to attend?

YJP Convention is designed for Jain professionals ages 21–42. We set the lower bound at 21 because that is typically when professional life begins, but we know people take non-traditional pathways. If you believe you are a young Jain professional under 21, reach out through our Contact page with a bit about yourself and we will work to get you a spot. You must be no older than 42 as of the first day of the convention, and a valid government-issued photo ID confirming your age will be required at check-in.

Who is planning the 2026 YJP Convention?

YJP Convention 2026 is organized by the YJP Convention Committee, an entirely volunteer-run team of young Jain professionals across 10 departments: Co-Chairs, Daytime Programming, Experience, Finance & Sponsorships, Catering, Hospitality, Audio Visual and Technology, Social Programming, Registration, and Volunteer Coordination. The convention is hosted in partnership with the Jain Center of Northern California.

How many people are expected to attend?

YJP Convention 2026 is capped at approximately 300 attendees to ensure an intimate, high-quality experience. Registration is released in phases, and spots fill quickly. We strongly recommend registering early to secure your place.

Will I be able to leave the hotel while at the convention?

The convention is a structured, immersive experience. Attendees are encouraged to remain on convention grounds to participate in all programming. If you need to leave for personal reasons, please notify the Registration team in advance. YJP is not responsible for the safety or wellbeing of attendees who leave the convention site.

What dress code will be enforced?

YJP 2026 has a dress code that varies by event. Daytime programming generally calls for Business Casual or Casual attire, while evening events require Formal or Indian/Cultural dress. The schedule will specify the required dress code for each event. Visit the Dress Code page for full details.

What are the rules of convention?

All attendees must agree to and abide by the YJP 2026 Convention Rules & Regulations, which cover conduct, attendance, health, property, and legal liability. Please review the Rules & Regulations page before attending. Any violation may result in expulsion from the event.

Are children allowed?

Yes, children are welcome and there is no maximum number of children per family. Children ages 0-2 attend for free. Children ages 2-9 are $49 per child. Programming includes keynote sessions, industry breakout tracks (Finance, Entrepreneurship, Law, Medicine, Technology), interactive workshops, the Shark Tank, morning yoga and meditation, a Seva (community service) activity, panels on identity and ethics, Garba Night, and the Black Tie Gala. Will I be able to choose the sessions I attend?

Yes, for breakout sessions and workshops, attendees will select their preferred sessions during the registration process or during convention check-in. Some sessions may fill quickly. Keynotes, Garba Night, and the Gala are included for all attendees.

Each evening of the convention brings the community together in a different way. Thursday opens with a Welcome Reception and Opening Keynote. Friday is Garba Night, a celebration of dandiya, music, and community. Saturday is the signature Black Tie Gala, featuring dinner, awards, and dancing. What is the Shark Tank?

The YJP Shark Tank is a startup pitch event open to all registered attendees with a business idea. Participants get 1 minute to pitch and 2 minutes of Q&A in front of a panel of Jain investors and mentors. Applications open after registration. Cash prizes are awarded to finalists.

Convention registration includes full access to all daytime programming, breakout sessions, meals, the welcome reception, Garba Night, the Gala, and the Seva activity. Pricing is released in phases, earlier phases are subsidized below the true cost of attendance. Financial assistance is available and kept fully confidential.

What does my registration fee include?

Your registration fee covers full access to all convention programming across all four days, including keynotes, breakout sessions, workshops, the Shark Tank event, morning wellness sessions, community dinners, the welcome reception, and the Seva activity. Hotel accommodations are booked separately through the convention room block.

What does subsidized pricing mean?

The true all-in cost per person to attend YJP 2026 is $449. YJP fundraises year-round to subsidize attendance and keep registration accessible. Phase 1 (50 spots) is priced at $259 and Phase 2 (221 spots) at $309, both well below the actual cost. If you are financially able, consider donating to help fund lower-cost spots for other attendees.

What type of food will be served?

All food served at YJP Convention 2026 will be strictly vegan and Jain-friendly. We take dietary restrictions seriously and will accommodate common allergies. If you have specific dietary needs, please note them during registration so the hospitality team can plan accordingly.

What do I do if I need to cancel my registration?

Accepted Answer

To cancel, contact us through our Contact page as soon as possible. Cancellations made within 7 days of registering and before August 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET are eligible for a 100% refund. After 7 days but before August 31, 2026, a refund of at least 50% is available. No refunds will be issued after August 31, 2026. Refunds do not include any third-party processing fees.

Will there be a doctor on-site?

YJP will have trained first aid personnel and a designated Health & Safety contact available throughout the convention. For medical emergencies, 911 should always be called first. The nearest hospital and urgent care facilities are within 10–15 minutes of the convention hotel.

Convention check-in opens Friday morning. Programming officially kicks off Friday afternoon with the Welcome Reception and Opening Keynote. We recommend arriving by Friday afternoon to get settled, pick up your badge and materials, and connect with fellow attendees before the evening program begins.

What are the rooms like?

All rooms at Embassy Suites Milpitas are suites, each containing two queen beds or one king bed, a full bathroom, and a living room with a sofa bed. We recommend 3-4 people per room to maximize value, but the final group size is up to you.

What should I bring on the first day to check in successfully on-site?

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID confirming you are between 21 and 42 years of age. You will also need your registration confirmation number (emailed upon registration). Pack attire for all dress code categories across the convention days. A detailed packing list will be sent to all registered attendees in the weeks before the event.
